Dr. Jason Taporco, MD, MPH, CAQSM
Physician — Family Medicine & Sports Medicine
Born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, Dr. Taporco completed his undergraduate studies locally before earning his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 2021. He moved to Sherman, Texas for his Family Medicine residency and quickly made the Texoma region home. He later pursued advanced subspecialty training in Sports Medicine at the University of Arizona, gaining deep expertise in musculoskeletal care, injury prevention, and athlete wellness. A former competitive volleyball and soccer player, Dr. Taporco remains passionate about fitness — he is now an avid weightlifter and bodybuilder and can often be found training at Nautilus Family Fitness. Outside of medicine, he enjoys motorcycling on sunny days, line dancing, and country music.

Dr. Megan Whittington, DO
Physician — Family Medicine
Dr. Megan Whittington is a board-certified family medicine physician born and raised in Covington, Texas. She graduated from Texas Christian University in 2018 before going on to earn her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in 2023. She completed her family medicine residency training at Texoma Medical Center, where she was honored to serve as Chief Resident. Dr. Whittington brings a whole-person approach to medicine, with a special interest in psychiatry, mood, and behavioral health — recognizing that mental and emotional well-being are inseparable from physical health. She is passionate about building lasting relationships with her patients and families, focusing on prevention, education, and personalized, evidence-based care to help each patient achieve their best possible health. Outside of medicine, she enjoys her cats, Taylor Swift, and all things Harry Potter.

Laurel Barnet, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, NC-BC
Family Nurse Practitioner
Laurel Barnet has been a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner for more than 25 years. She provides comprehensive primary care for adolescents, adults, and older adults, with a focus on building long-term relationships and partnering with patients to achieve their health goals. Her clinical interests include women's health, menopause, preventive care, and chronic disease management. She believes in listening carefully to patients, educating them about their health, and working together to develop practical treatment plans that fit their lives. Outside of the clinic, Laurel enjoys spending time with her family, camping, kayaking, bicycling, hiking, and quilting.

Lauren Kirby, MSN, APRN, FNP-C
Family Nurse Practitioner
Originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Lauren earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Oklahoma in 2008 — Boomer Sooner! After graduating, she worked in the emergency department for seven years, becoming very comfortable treating acute and emergent conditions. She then moved to Texas to earn her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner at the University of Texas at Arlington in 2014, and has been serving the Sherman, Texas community ever since. Lauren met her husband while working in the ER. They have two sons with another on the way, and share their home with two rambunctious dogs and five miniature donkeys. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys spending time with family, going to the lake, traveling, good food, and is a Broadway Dallas season ticket holder.

Melody Barker, MSN, APRN, FNP-C
Family Nurse Practitioner
Melody Barker, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing with honors from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2005 and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2010. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, she worked as an emergency nurse, developing strong skills in patient advocacy, critical thinking, and compassionate care. Since completing her graduate education, Melody has provided comprehensive healthcare in internal medicine, family practice, concierge medicine, and urgent care settings. She is known for building lasting relationships with her patients and delivering personalized, patient-centered care. Melody's approach focuses on helping patients achieve and maintain their best possible health through every stage of life. She emphasizes prevention, education, evidence-based medicine, and collaborative decision-making to improve overall wellness and quality of life. Outside of work, Melody enjoys weightlifting, rucking, reading, and football, and she is a devoted wife and mother of three sons.

Michelle Carney
The heartbeat of our clinic
Michelle Carney is the friendly and efficient heartbeat of our clinic, serving as our dedicated Office Manager. With extensive experience in healthcare administration and a genuine passion for patient care, Michelle ensures that our operations run smoothly. She provides each patient with a seamless and welcoming experience from the moment they arrive.
She manages the day-to-day functions of the clinic, including scheduling, patient services, insurance coordination, and staff support. Renowned for her warm demeanor, meticulous attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities, Michelle consistently supports both patients and staff with professionalism and compassion.
